Bryan Fass, ATC, LAT, CSCS, EMT-P (ret.), has dedicated the past 10+ years to changing the culture of first responders from one of pain, injury, and disease to one of ergonomic excellence and first responder wellness. He has leveraged his 20-year career in sports medicine, athletic training, spine rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and as a paramedic to become the expert on pre-hospital patient & equipment handling, fire-EMS fitness and wellness. His company, Fit Responder, works nationally with departments to reduce injuries and improve fitness for first responders.
Bryan is frequently contacted for expert opinion and content contribution for all aspects of public safety fitness, ergonomics and wellness. Bryan authored the Fit Responder book used by departments and schools plus writes for numerous web and peer-reviewed journals including the National Strength & Conditioning Associations Tactical Strength & Conditioning journal, officer.com, ems-1.com, fire Engineering, EMS World & JEMS. Bryan holds a bachelors’ degree in sports medicine with over 17 years of clinical practice, was a paramedic for over 8 years, and is certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC, LAT), Strength Coach (CSCS). Fit Responder developed the nation’s first validated pre-hire Physical Abilities Test for EMS.
Bryan founded Fit Responder in 1998 to meet the risk, safety, fitness, wellness and training needs of departments nationally. Fit Responder is a trusted partner in the insurance industry working with risk pools, workers compensation funds, insurance brokers and third party administrators.
Glenn R. Jones
Glenn has overseen physical fitness programming for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and the Charlotte Fire Department for over 28 years. He has consulted with numerous agencies regarding the legal and practical ramifications of physical ability standards and programming, health promotion programming, and facility design. Glenn has led or assisted with test validation for local, State, and national organizations and has served as an expert witness. Glenn has authored numerous articles related to public safety fitness programming and has been a presenter at the Redmond Symposium and the North Carolina Justice Academy.
Bruce is a 35 year veteran public safety professional. Starting his career at the age of 14 while still in high school where he received his EMT certification. After attending Clarion University he received his Paramedic training at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Bruce has worked for Central County Ambulance Clarion PA. 1979 – 1988, Brookville Ambulance Service Brookville PA 1986 – 1991, Emergycare Inc. Erie PA 1989 – 1997 and Mecklenburg EMS Agency aka Medic Charlotte NC – 1997 – present.
Jon has a combined 25 years’ public safety experience. First with 17 years in EMS as a crew chief and FTO. Jon has managed a wide variety of complicated scenarios to include severe trauma, mass casualties and a wide array of medical emergencies. Then over 12 years of law enforcement as a police training officer; he has responded to a wide array of scenarios to include high risk warrants, barricaded subjects, suicidal subjects, homicides, suicides and violent crime. Jon was awarded officer of the month 3 times. Jon holds an advanced law Enforcement certificate with a master of science in police administration plus 10 years of martial arts and defensive tactics. Jon has been shot in the line of duty and battles PTSD daily, he offers an inspiring class on officer survival along with combatives training.
