When a member of the community calls for help, he or she expects the crew that responds to be fit for the job. But today, many firefighters are plagued by poor fitness, shift-compounded fatigue and decades-old misinformation about safety. The result is, many aren’t ready to best serve their communityor their career, leaving themselves and their departments at risk for injury and lost revenue.
Career firefighters go through extensive training in order to be prepared to serve. And yet, little time is spent learning equally critical skills to keep themselves safe from injury and truly fit for a job that often taxes the boundaries of physical fitness. So, firefighters work every day compounding the conditions that could lead to catastrophic loss, both for the provider and his or her department. With countless lost days, weeks or months of work and mounting workers’ compensation claims, everyone loses.
While Fire has taught its people the necessary firefighting and, in some cases, EMS skills, it has neglected to train for the true rigor of the job itself. But now, there’s the FitResponder System, the industry’s only validated, evidence-based learning system built for every Firedepartment to empower them to safely prevent injury and promote total wellness. With FitResponder, system leaders can be confident they’re reducing risk and turnover, increasing firefighter career longevity, and improving onboarding and operational efficiency.
- Injury Free Training
Since most line of duty injuries occur during EMS calls, we’ll prepare your team to avoid this costly challenge. When you complete this course, you will have established a system of safe patient and equipment handling based on your current fleet and tools. It employs tissue conditioning, identifies systemic issues, and corrects them while training for safety and resiliency to help reduce the rate and severity of injury and the resulting liability.
- Fire Rescue Fitness
Our 24-hour course is designed to educate first responders, safety officers and PFT/WFI instructors on the latest research and techniques in exercise science to optimize their performance, reduce injury, and improve firefighter wellness. Often described as a firefighter fitness “technique mastery class,”firefighters will gain an additional 1.3 ACE CECs while building a core knowledge base to support a long and fit career in Fire Rescue.
- Best Practice Development & Documentation
In order to best track and measure safety standards and program excellence, you need a safety audit, expert equipment recommendations, and a detailed safety policy in accordance with best practices. With this, your workforce will have a clear reference tool for proper and improper ergonomics, and you will have a benchmark with which to train, coach and hold employees to clearly documented safety standards.
